Sustained Growth Predicted For Chemical Products And The Drums Used For Shipping Them

According to a recent study conducted by the Cleveland-based research company, Freedonia Group, “Chemicals and pharmaceuticals will remain both the largest and the fastest-growing global bulk packaging market, at 30%, followed by food and beverage at 25%, other nondurables at 22%, and durables at 18%. Another trend in this market is the growing presence of larger reusable containers, such as FIBCs and RIBCs.”

Mark Wotell, VP, Sales Director at U.S.Coexcell, is seeing the benefits of this uptick in his company’s drum demand. “We are particularly seeing the growth of our Ultra-Pure 55 gallon closed head drums for the pharmaceutical and electrochemical industries. But we are also benefiting from an increase in demand for our all-purpose jan/san drums and the bulk food drums we refer to as our N55s, the N standing for nestability.”

U.S.Coexcell, headquartered in Maumee, Ohio, has nearly three decades in the plastic drum making business and developed their proprietary ICAS system for the continuous extrusion blow molding of Ultra-Pure multi-layer drums within a Class 1000 “clean room” environment. Their careful screening and quality control protocols guarantee their UP drum users the closest drum you could find to completely contaminate free.

“We’re excited for our future since plastic drums are expected to experience the fastest growth for the next three to five years,” Wotell said. “We fully expect to participate in that growth with new products, improvements and enhanced logistics.”
