IC55UP Ultra-Pure HDPE Drum for Electronic Wet Chemicals

The IC55UP is a tri-layer, ultra-pure HDPE 55-gallon drum designed for electronic wet chemicals that require controlled particle counts and low metal extractables. A virgin inner liner and an integral sump support product-contact purity and more complete recovery, and UN/DOT approval covers transport of Group II and Group III chemistries.

Is This Your Drum?

Where the IC55UP fits — and where it doesn’t.

Designed for

  • Electronic wet chemicals with controlled particle-count and low metal-extractables requirements.
  • Packing Group II and Group III chemistries, shipped with or without a dip tube.
  • Chemicals with high specific gravity — the one-piece body and integral chime are built for them.
  • Higher-pressure chemistries in the 300 kPa configuration.

Not designed for

  • Packing Group I (high-danger) materials — see the C55UP, which carries the required X rating.
  • Food and beverage processing — see the FDA-compliant N55 nestable system.
  • Applications requiring two-piece body and handling-ring color identification — see the C55UP.
  • Industrial or chemical service that doesn’t require an ultra-pure specification — see General Application Drums for fit-for-duty economics.
Purity and Contamination Control

Built so the chemical only ever touches ultra-clean HDPE.

Tri-layer construction

Three layers isolate colorants and UV stabilizers in the exterior structure, away from the product-contact layer.

Virgin ultra-clean inner liner

The inner liner contacts the chemical with high-purity HDPE, supporting low particles and extractables. Three resin grades are available to match your specification.

Class 1000 finishing · Class 100 verification

Drums are finished in a Class 1000 clean-room environment, and cleanliness is verified in our Class 100 liquid particle-count laboratory testing.

Integral sump

Recovery geometry below the bung supports more complete extraction and lower residual volume.

Transport Certification

Certified with its exact markings — never generalized.

Every IC55UP configuration is UN/DOT tested and certified, and each ships under the marking embossed on the drum itself.

Standard configuration

Tested and certified for transport of Packing Group II and Group III chemistries, with and without a dip tube.

IC55UP Questions

Answers buyers ask for first.

Answers to the questions we hear most before a first quote. If yours isn’t here, the form is the fastest route to a specific answer.

Which packing groups is the IC55UP certified for?

The IC55UP is UN/DOT tested and certified for Packing Group II and Group III chemistries at a 1H1/Y1.9/150 marking. It is not certified for Packing Group I; for high-danger PG I materials, COEXCELL manufactures the two-piece C55UP, which carries the X rating required for that service.

Is the IC55UP certified with a dip tube?

Yes. The IC55UP is UN/DOT tested and certified both with and without a dip tube, so certified extraction configurations are available without changing drums. Tell us your extraction setup and we'll confirm the certified configuration that matches it.

Can the IC55UP handle higher-pressure chemistries?

A 300 kPa version, embossed 1H1/Y1.9/300, is available for higher-pressure service, supporting global transport.

How is IC55UP purity verified?

Drums are finished in a Class 1000 clean-room environment, and cleanliness is verified in our in-house Class 100 liquid particle-count laboratory testing.

Can the inner liner be matched to my extractables specification?

Inner-layer resins for the IC and K55UP product lines are available in three inner-liner resin grades — matched to your extractables requirement rather than a single one-size claim. Grade selection is specified with our team during qualification.
